Justice Babar Sattar dismissed pleas to recuse himself from the audio leaks case

The Islamabad High Court sought a response from the Intelligence Bureau (IB) on whose instructions the applications were filed.

The Islamabad High Court dismissed the petitions of the institutions regarding the disqualification of Justice Babar Sattar from the audio leaks case with penalty.

The audio leaks case was heard in the High Court.

Justice Babar Sattar said that IB, FIA, PTA are serious institutions and I will decide after listening to their requests, in which objections have been raised against me, who has given them the authority to file the requests?

Additional Attorney General Manoor Iqbal Dogal replied that FIA has requested to transfer the case to another court, objecting that six judges including Justice Babar Sattar wrote a letter of interference of intelligence agencies in the judiciary.

Justice Babar Sattar inquired that what is the relation of FIA with the issue of ISI? Is he a proxy of ISI? Is the letter about secret agencies? Justice Shaukat Siddiqui’s allegations are supported by the judges of this court, the judges of this court said that they support investigating the allegations of Justice Shaukat Siddiqui, the part of the letter you read is ISI. Not related to FIA? Does FIA have anything to do with installing hidden cameras in judges’ houses?

Additional Attorney General Manoor Iqbal Dogal replied that no they are not concerned, the role of agencies has been discussed in a petition, that’s why I am saying.

The court remarked that will you define the conflict of interest in this way? If the executive blackmails the judges? So will the judges have a conflict of interest?

The court dismissed the miscellaneous application of FIA with a fine of five thousand rupees and also indicated contempt of court proceedings against DGFIA.

The Islamabad High Court sought an answer from the Intelligence Bureau (IB) on whose direction the miscellaneous application was filed and summoned the Joint Director General IB in his personal capacity.

Justice Babar Sattar asked with whose approval the miscellaneous application of Intelligence Bureau has been filed? The Additional Attorney General said that Joint Director General Intelligence Bureau Tariq Mehmood has given the approval.

Justice Babar Sattar asked Pemra lawyer that you have filed an application, I should not hear this case, how can this be a ground of objection? You can give your arguments based on this decision.

The Islamabad High Court also dismissed the petitions of PEMRA and PTA by imposing fine.
