KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that “non-local” police and administration were imposed on the port city, terming it an injustice for the people. The News reported Friday.

Speaking during an iftar-dinner organized by the party’s labor wing in North Nazimabad, the politician said that Karachi had non-local police, terming it an injustice for the people of the city.

Siddiqui said that other urban centers of Sindh had their own residents in government and state institutions, questioning why there was a non-local police force in the capital city of the province.

“As a nation, we are undergoing different political phases, and non-local police and administration have been imposed on us. However, the MQM-P has once again taken back the mandate of the urban areas of the province from the non-locals. ,” said Siddiqui.

Amid the rising street crimes in Karachi which have resulted in the deaths of several youngsters, Siddiqui said that young people belonging to the city were being killed in street crime by “ghair maqami” (non-local) bandits.

“In the month of Ramadan, young people of the city are being mercilessly martyred by non-local bandits,” said the MQM-P leader.

He further said that the “racist” government of Sindh was given a free hand, adding that his party had been silent in the month of Ramadan, however, it will speak on the death of the city’s youth at the hands of non-local bandits. .

Siddiqui stressed that the MQM-P would not hesitate to make any sacrifice even if it meant taking to the streets for the honor of women. The event was also attended by the party’s ad-hoc organizing committee members Anis Qaimkhani, MNAs, MPAs, party office-bearers and workers.

Khalid Maqbool, a leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in Karachi, has criticized the presence of “non-local” police being imposed on the city. He believes that the police force should consist of local officers who are familiar with the community and its dynamics, rather than outsiders who may not understand the unique challenges of Karachi. Maqbool’s statement reflects a common sentiment among residents of Karachi who feel that the police force should be representative of the local population in order to effectively address the city’s security concerns.
