Osama drops, Hasan Ali returns to team before T20 World Cup

Wahab Riaz, a member of the selection committee, explained the reason for dropping Osama Mir from the tour of Ireland and the series against England.

In Lahore, the members of the selection committee announced the 18-member squad against Ireland and England, then spinner Usama Mir was dropped and Hasan Ali was made a part of the squad in his place.

Explaining Hasan Ali’s inclusion, selection committee member Wahab Riaz said that the fast bowler was part of the World Cup plans, but he had a contract due to which he was busy playing for the county.

He said that Hasan Ali is Haris Rauf’s back in the World Cup squad, which he has told, if the selection committee finds Haris not fit, then he will be made a part of the squad.

On this occasion, Abdul Razzaq said that Shadab and Usama Mir are the same bowlers, so Abrar was selected and the leg-spinner was dropped.

The selection committee members said, “We are hoping that Haris Rauf will be available for the England series, so we have delayed announcing the World Cup squad because we want to see the fitness of one or two players.”
