Positive reforms are underway in key areas of taxation, energy and privatization, Finance Minister

The Federal Minister of Finance said that positive reforms are underway in the key areas of taxation, energy and privatization, and the government is determined to join the IMF in a broader and expanded program.

Addressing the JP Morgan Seminar on Pakistan’s Economic Outlook in Washington DC, the Finance Minister discussed the performance of the agricultural sector, reduction in inflationary pressure, stable exchange rate, shrinking trade deficit.

Muhammad Aurangzeb also attended the meeting of Ministers and Governors of Middle East and North Africa from MDIMF.

During the meeting, the Finance Minister thanked the IMF and other banks for their help in tackling the challenges facing Pakistan.

He said that efforts to widen the tax net and privatize government-owned enterprises are ongoing.
