Power sharing between Muslim League (N), PPP, possibility of Bilawal’s return as Foreign Minister

Islamabad: The talks between the ruling alliance Muslim League (N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) regarding the division of ministries have entered the final stage and PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is likely to return as the foreign minister.

According to people familiar with the ongoing negotiations between the Muslim League (N) and the PPP, the power sharing agreement between the two parties is close to being finalised, as a result of which Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is likely to become the foreign minister once again.

Sources said that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will become a part of Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet, a consensus was reached during the recent talks between the leadership of the two parties.

He said that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has once again agreed to become the Minister of Foreign Affairs while earlier he was reluctant to take the ministry, both parties are now working on the details and the timing of PPP’s inclusion in the cabinet.

Sources said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wants the PPP to be included in the cabinet before the budget presented in the first week of June, but it is not clear whether the PPP will be part of the cabinet before the budget. It is clear that the PPP will join the cabinet in June.

Muslim League (N) has earlier given the post of Deputy Prime Minister to Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, creating an opportunity for Bilawal Bhutto to take over the portfolio of Foreign Ministry.

Informed sources said that Ishaq Dar’s office will be set up in the Prime Minister’s office and he will sit and work in the Prime Minister’s office after leaving the post of Foreign Minister for Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

He said that Ishaq Dar was not happy with the position of Foreign Ministry because he had always been the Finance Minister but Shahbaz Sharif and other leaders of Muslim League (N) did not want it.

On the other hand, there is a perception within the PPP that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has established himself at the national and international level as the Foreign Minister during the 16 months of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government.

He believes that the return of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will benefit him and the party, however, the final decision to join the federal cabinet will be in the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC).

It should be noted that after the elections on February 8, the PPP had decided to support the Muslim League-N in forming the government in the federation but had refused to join the cabinet, however there was a consensus between the two parties that P. PP will take the ministries later.

Pakistan Muslim League (N) fulfilled its promise and gave the PPP the opportunity to appoint their governors in three provinces, in addition to the constitutional post of the chairman in the presidency and the senate, and now the PPP has replaced him in the cabinet. will be part of

Foreign Ministry sources said that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is a good choice as he has proved himself as a competent foreign minister during the 16 months before the elections.
