Mumbai: Bollywood star Ranveer Singh has filed a case against his deepfake video circulating on social media showing him endorsing a political party.
During the elections in India, a video of Ranveer Singh that was created with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) went viral.
In the said video, the actor was shown criticizing the rising unemployment under Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and supporting another political party.
The original video of Ranveer Singh used to make the deepfake video was of his Varanasi Yatra in which he not only shared his experiences of visiting the city but also praised the Modi government.
After this video went viral, Ranveer Singh said in his post on social networking website X (formerly Twitter) that “Friends! Beware of Deepfakes”.
A few days after the incident, Ranveer Singh has now filed a complaint against his deepfake video with the Cyber Crime Cell of the Mumbai Police.
According to media reports, Ranveer Singh has asked in his FIR that the police should investigate the social media account that first uploaded his deepfake video.
