Karachi / Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has recovered tax liabilities of Rs 13 billion from the defaulting taxpayer Civil Aviation Authority by taking a historic action.

While confirming the recovery, FBR has said that zone one of LTO Karachi, a subsidiary of FBR, has made the largest tax recovery so far.

FBR officials say that FBR has recovered tax liabilities of around thirteen billion rupees by freezing the bank accounts of Civil Aviation Authority.

According to sources, the defaulted amount was accumulated due to non-payment of advance tax by CAA. Despite the company’s claim that it is exempt from paying advance tax.

Rejecting this position, the FBR directed LTO Karachi to take decisive action under Section 140 of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001, on which a TO Karachi approached the Civil Aviation Authority for recovery of tax dues from the company. About 11 bank accounts of the concerned have been frozen.
