The $1.1 billion tranche for Pakistan is likely to be approved today

Islamabad: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Board is likely to approve Pakistan’s second economic review and $1.10 billion tranche today.

According to sources in the Ministry of Finance, the meeting of the IMF Executive Board will be held today, in which the 1.1 billion dollar tranche is expected to be approved for Pakistan. Pakistan’s case will be presented for approval in the Executive Board meeting, after approval, Pakistan will receive the third and final installment under the Standby Arrangement Agreement.

Pakistan has received 1.9 billion dollars from the IMF under the Standby Arrangement Agreement, while Pakistan has implemented the targets agreed with the IMF while remaining in the agreement. Economic team negotiations for a new loan program with the IMF will take place next month.

According to Finance Ministry sources, the IMF delegation will come to Pakistan in May for negotiations under the new loan program.
