The claim of the mother of the child who fell in the drain is 6 crores on the water board

Karachi: The mother of 6-year-old Abyan, who died after falling into an open manhole in Gulshan Iqbal, filed a claim for damages with the Water Board.

In the claim filed through Usman Farooq Advocate, the stand was adopted that Rs 6 crore 2 lakh should be given as damages from the Water Board. The incident has happened due to the negligence of Water and Sewerage Corporation and KMC.

An innocent child lost his life due to the negligence of the institutions. A resident of Oak Heights had already filed a complaint with the provincial ombudsman against the non-covering of the drain.

In the same incident, a case has also been registered in the police station Aziz Bhatti against the senior officers of Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation in the complaint of Atifuddin, the father of the deceased child.

Abyan fell into the gutter while playing cricket with his brother. The named accused in the incident have obtained bail from the court.

Edhi’s team arrived half an hour after reporting but no concerned administration came. KMC and Water Board management failed even after delay.

It should be remembered that on May 6, 2023, Gulshan Iqbal died in the 13th day of the 8-year-old Abyan after falling into the gutter during the game.
