Virtues of Sehri – Express Urdu

Fasting begins after dawn and in this holy hadith, the opening meal of the fast has been called suhoor. Photo: File

Hadhrat Anas narrates that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “Eat suhoor, because there is blessing in suhoor.” The name of the food is Suhri, this word comes from Suhar which means morning time and Suhri means the food that the fasting people get up after midnight and eat before sunrise.

The time to start the fast is dawn, that is, the sign of dawn that appears in the east of the sky in such a way that the white line on the horizon is separated from the blackness of the night, this is the dawn. Then gradually this whiteness increases until the sun rises. The time of the beginning of the fast that has been determined by the Holy Quran has been determined by this sign, therefore, one can eat and drink before dawn.

Fasting begins after dawn and in this holy hadith, the opening meal of the fast has been called suhoor and the Ummah has been blessed with it. While this food gives a kind of energy and strength to the fasting person in fulfilling the fast and provides a kind of support by reducing the intensity and severity of the fast to some extent, this practice has many other benefits. Is.

One of the benefits of this is that since the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) determined Suhoor and following the Messenger of Allah (saw) is religion, this food is also a form of worship. The criterion of popularity in Bargara is security of intention and purity of seeking divine pleasure.

In the Holy Hadith, it has been said that Suhri is blessed and should not be missed. And the angels pray for him. Look at the reward and reward of eating Suhoor which is mentioned here, it mentions blessing and mercy and it is also expressed that it is the cause of Allah’s mercy and the motive of angels’ prayers, so Suhoor must be arranged.

Some people think that it is permissible for a person who opens his eyes so late that the Fajr prayer was being called or even after a while, that it is permissible for him to eat Suhoor quickly. Because the time for suhoor is before dawn, it is not permissible to eat suhoor after dawn, even if the call to prayer has been made or not (Knowledge of the Qur’an). Some people eat suhoor from midnight and sit down. Eating suhoor so early is against the intention of Sharia and the objectives of suhoor. If there is any disability or compulsion, it is a different matter.

When it is near the time of the morning fast, one should eat suhoor at that time, and one should finish the fast before the time of sahoor with satisfaction. (Sharh al-Badayah and Rid al-Muhtar) Some people get up to eat Suhoor, but they go to sleep after eating Suhoor without offering the Fajr prayer, thus their Fajr prayer is made up even in Ramadan. Remember! In this way, it is not permissible to fulfill the duties of Fajr by performing the Sunnah of Suhri (virtues and commandments of the month of Ramadan), the improvement of the Ummah is in the practice of Suhri. The Prophet ﷺ said: “As long as people hurry in Iftar and delay in Suhoor, they will be on good and good (Sahih Muslim: Chapter Fazl al-Suhoor). The government of the two scholars, ﷺ, came to Al-Aqdas, and he ﷺ was eating suhoor.

The Prophet ﷺ said: This is a blessing given by Allah, do not abandon it” (Sunan Al-Nasa’i). Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The best suhoor of a believer is dates. (Sunan Abi Dawood/Hadith 2342) So we should include dates in our Suhoor, not only for Iftar. It is in a hadith: Indeed, Allah Almighty has mercy on those who break Suhoor and His angels pray for mercy for them (Musnad Ahmad).

So don’t miss it, even if it’s only through a sip of water. “Allah and the angels pray for mercy for those who eat Suhoor” (Musnad, Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal). and his angels pray for them.

From the aforementioned hadiths, it is clear that one should eat Suhoor, some people are laziness and lose its virtue, while some people eat at night so that they do not have to get up at Suhoor time. (Al-Dhamman Ali Zawaid Ibn Hibban, Hadith Number: 880) Hazrat Zayd bin Thabit (RA) narrates that I ate Suhoor with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and then we stood up for prayer, when it was asked about the end of Suhoor and the prayer. How much was the distance between them? So he said: The amount of reciting fifty verses (Sahih Muslim: Kitab al-Sayam, chapter Fazl al-Suhoor and Taqeed).

The name of one was Bilal and the name of the other was Ibn Umm Maktoum (Ibn Umm Maktoum was blind), so the Messenger of Allah said that Bilal gives the call to prayer while the night remains, until Ibn Umm Maktoum gives the call to prayer, then you eat and drink. Ibn Umar (RA) said: There used to be such a distance between these two calls to prayer that Bilal (RA) would descend after giving the call to prayer and Ibn Umm Maktoum (RA) would go up to give the call to prayer. It is mentioned in the hadith that the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Get strength for fasting by eating Suhri!” And ask for help after sleeping in the afternoon and getting up in the last night (for Tahajjud, etc.). He said: “Anas! If you want to fast, bring something to eat and drink! Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says, “I came to the service with dates and a pot of water” (Sunan Nasa’i). ! Eat food of blessing! Hazrat Abdullah bin Harith (RA) narrates from a Sahabi (RA) that I attended the service of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) at a time when he (PBUH) was drinking Suhri. He said: “This is a blessing that Allah has given you.

So don’t miss it! On the other hand, in another place, it is even said that if there is nothing else, eat only one chick! Or drink a sip of water! So, in Musnad Ahmad, it is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed that “Sahri” is the blessing of all.

Therefore, it should not be left (in any case) even if it is by drinking a sip of water (Musnad Ahmad), but Allama Ibn Najim Hanafi has written that “I have not come across any such explanation in the words of the Muhadditheen that Which proves that just by drinking a sip of water, one gets the reward of the Sunnah of Suhri, but it is supported by a clear hadith. As soon as he came, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) said that three things are among the morals of the Messengers (1) Hastening the Iftar (2) Delaying the Suhoor (3) and placing the right hand over the left hand in prayer. Hashiyyah al-Tahtawi Sharh Noor al-Izah) Some people believe that it is permissible for a person who opens his eyes so late that the call to Fajr was being called, or if he opened them a little later than that, then it is permissible for him to eat “Suhri” as soon as possible. This is a misunderstanding of these people, because the time of “Suhri” is before Subh Sadiq.

It is not permissible to eat “Suhri” after the morning prayer even if the adhan has been called or not. (Knowledge of Al-Qur’an) Eating suhoor is a sunnah and it is blessed because eating suhoor gives a person energy and strength and the best time for it is fifteen or twenty minutes before the Fajr call to prayer. And the biggest benefit of eating suhoor at that time is that a person performs Fajr prayer in congregation. And for Suhoor it is not necessary that there are different types of dishes or many things, then Suhoor will be accepted, but if the person’s health does not want to eat anything, then at least dates or a few sips of water etc. should be eaten with the intention of Suhoor. If you take it, it will be Suhoor, this is the time of Tahajjud, Istighfar and Dua.

Therefore, Suhoor does not mean that the whole time should be spent in eating, but tahajud, dua and seeking forgiveness should be arranged. Some people make the mistake of eating too much food in Suhoor, due to which they suffer from belching, heartburn and acidity throughout the day. Some people think that if they don’t do Suhoor then they won’t fast, so when they never do Suhoor, they skip the fast. This is not true.

It is recommended and preferred to eat suhoor for fasting, but it is not a condition that there is no fasting without it. Therefore, it is wrong to skip fasting just because of missing Suhoor. Some people believe that suhoor can be done until Fajr is called. This is completely wrong. The time of Suhoor ends when the end of Suhoor is announced. After that, it is wrong to eat and drink. Some people fall asleep as soon as they eat Suhoor, due to which their Fajr prayer becomes qadha, which is also wrong. After Suhoor, do recitation, Zikrallah, Durood Pak, Istighfar, Dua and Najaat etc.

Go to the mosque and offer the Fajr prayer in congregation. Then another wisdom that is seen in Suhoor is that fasting is a training of self-control and in this training, Suhoor food also plays a special part in its place. It happens and he tolerates hunger and thirst, but it is difficult for him to give up sleep. Fasting is associated with the lunar calendar, so it rotates throughout the year, sometimes in summer, sometimes in winter. happens.

Therefore, in such a situation, following the order that you should never miss Suhoor, even if you are not hungry, get up and drink a sip of water, is a great self-jihad, and following the Sunnah is a very wise method of self-control for a person. If it is said like this, then it will not be out of place that fasting is not only one act of worship, but a collection of many acts of worship, in which sometimes it is necessary to leave the sleep of the night and stay for Tarweeh, sometimes it is a duty to get up to eat Suhoor and sometimes it is hunger during the day. Thirst is worship, then breaking the fast at the right time of Iftar is worship. Suhoor is undoubtedly important and a blessed and noble act.

Regardless of the spiritual blessings and blessings, Suhoor strengthens the fast during the day. Due to this, there is more attraction of work during fasting. Apart from this, Suhoor is also related to waking up at night because this is the time of remembrance and dua, in which the blessings of Allah are revealed and it leads to the acceptance of dua and Istighfar. May Allah Almighty bless us with the blessings of the month of Ramadan.
