After a brief hiatus, a terrorist incident has once again been reported in the city. Terrorist incidents have started again since last year, be it the explosion by a female suicide bomber in Karachi University, the attacks on Chinese citizens in different areas of the city or the terrorist attack on the Karachi Police Head Office. However, all the incidents have forced the security agencies to once again rethink their policies and think about improving the strategy.

Even after the earlier attacks on the Karachi Stock Exchange and the Chinese Consulate, the need to make the intelligence system more effective was emphasized by the police, although the suspects or suspects involved in most of these terrorist incidents were not identified. Their facilitators have been killed or captured. However, the incidents of terrorism did not stop.

In recent days, the police foiled an attempt to attack foreigners, one terrorist was killed in an encounter in Sukhan, while another escaped. According to the police, an alleged suicide bomber was killed while his accomplice managed to escape while thwarting an attack on foreigners.

According to District Malir SSP Hasan Sardar Niazi, one terrorist was killed during the encounter, while his accomplice escaped, adding that two terrorists tried to enter the Dawood Jetty, a Chinese company in Hong Kong. However, the police officers posted at the jetty opened fire on the terrorists. One terrorist was killed in police firing and one escaped, while police constable Akram Ali was shot in the leg by the terrorists.

SSP Malir said that the slain terrorist was wearing a jacket, adding that bomb disposal squad was called to the spot. Kalashnikov recovered, injured police constable Akram Ali of Special Protection Unit (SPU) was taken to hospital for medical treatment. Police sources say that the killed terrorist seems to be a foreigner. A burnt jacket and hat were also recovered. A bag, roasted gram, a pistol magazine were also recovered from the terrorist. A large number of foreigners were present at the jetty, where ships were being repaired under a project linked to CPEC.

DIGC Pack Muhammad Kashif said that the terrorist attack near the Ibrahim Haidari Dua jetty has been foiled, the ship is being repaired at the jetty. More than 30 foreigners were present on the CPEC project, he said, adding that the terrorists tried to enter the jetty around 9 am on Wednesday. The terrorists reached the jetty from Lath Basti through the drain towards the sea. The DIG said that one terrorist was ahead and the other behind, the terrorists fired at the police check post at the corner of the jetty. The DIG said that four police officers were on duty at the jetty at the time of the attack.

CTD officials also visited the spot. CTD officials say there are security concerns. However, the police are also on alert everywhere, due to which the attack was thwarted. The investigators have also obtained the CCTV footage of the incident. In the footage, police officers can be seen firing at the terrorists. As a result of firing, one terrorist was killed and his accomplice escaped. In CCTV footage, police forces and a vehicle can be seen arriving shortly after the shooting. A major incident of terrorism was foiled by the timely action of the police.

On the other hand, a case was registered for the incident. The case has been registered in the complaint of SPU Inspector Jameel Chandio, the case has been registered under terrorism and other provisions, the bomb disposal squad has also sent a report regarding the incident to the authorities. The report details the weapons and equipment recovered from the slain terrorist, one SMG, 9 magazines, dagger, food and other items were recovered from the slain terrorist. Constable Muhammad Akram is assigned to the security of the Chinese under the Special Protection Unit. Ghulam Nabi Memon inquired about the health of the constable from the hospital administration. The IG Sindh directed that the injured should be given all possible standard medical care. Sindh felicitated the injured constable Mohammad Ikram for fighting the terrorists manfully, DIG East Muqadas Haider, AIG Welfare Sindh Bahadur Ali and other officers were also present on the occasion.

The Counter-Terrorism Department of the police needs to be given more resources to deal with terrorism, while regular training of police officers and coordination with other institutions and intelligence agencies needs to be strengthened. , so that all institutions can work together to deal with terrorism in a comprehensive manner.
