Disrespect of oath – ABC Express

The meaning of oath is to swear. In the light of the injunctions of Islam, if the oath is taken with firm determination, it will be impeached and expiation will be mandatory for breaking it. In any good society, the purpose of taking an oath is simply to bind a person in a covenant to commit to do or not to do something in the future and such an oath (oath) is called “Yemen held”. And it is necessary to pay expiation for breaking such a promise.

If a person holds a collective responsibility and has taken an oath to work in accordance with the rules and regulations, but still breaks the oath, then in this regard, there are many places in the Holy Qur’an about such people who are righteous. Taking the path of denial is mentioned, such as:

“And they will say: If we had heard or understood, we would not have been among the people of Hell” (Al-Mulk 10:67).

“So do they not meditate on the Qur’an or are their hearts locked?” (Muhammad 24:47)

“Have you seen such a person (O Prophet) who has made his desire his god? Then can you take responsibility for him?” (Al-Furqan 43:25)

“(At this time) I am letting them loose because My plan is firm” (Al-A’raf 183:7).

The Qur’an mentions about human psychology and truth in many places. There are only two choices before the addressees of the Qur’an, one is to submit to the personality of the Great Qur’an and take the path of truth, and the other is to deny, object, oppose, obstinately, hypocrisy and argue instead of righteousness. Adopt such behaviors. Now, if we look at the Pakistani society, a large number of people seem to be forced to make other choices, and in the light of the Qur’an, such people close their ears instead of listening, and instead of thinking about the arguments, they turn their eyes to see the facts and their hearts. We stop to think about them. Such people really just want to maintain and show their superiority and superiority over others like Satan. In order to prove themselves righteous, such persons exhibit such behavior where instead of questioning, they engage in pointless and irrelevant discussions and constantly express doubts and arguments to neutralize the truth and answer to arguments. The truth is denied through argumentation, mockery, obstinacy, blind opposition, aversion, enmity and malicious deception.

Whenever such people come into trouble, these people are seen to immediately admit their mistake and resolve to correct that mistake, but as soon as the situation improves, these people return to their old ways. According to the Holy Qur’an, these are the people who are let loose and even caught by God.

The purpose of the preamble above is simply that our present system of government is an oath-rejecting system. Where there is bribery, illegal and unlimited use of government resources, looting of abandoned properties and constant contempt and disregard for the law.

If we look back at the history of Pakistan, from 1947 till today, we could not even create a system through which clean and transparent elections can be conducted. Financial corruption and nepotism are now so embedded in our society that national elections are a far-fetched thing, now we do not conduct even a small cooperative housing society election honestly. The reason is simply that we want a leadership of our choice, even if that leadership destroys the country brick by brick.

In a society where the constitution and law are constantly played with and the concept of reward and punishment ends, evils like corruption and nepotism are born.

Whenever there is a new leadership in our country, whether they are federal and provincial ministers or officers of civil and military institutions, they are sworn that they will perform their duties with justice, honesty and impartiality. Indeed, in the kind of society we have worked so hard to create today, all these things which are embellished with oaths are very embarrassing and distressing to the person taking the oath. So either adapt the things that are written in the oath according to your needs, traditions and environment, or end the ritual of taking the oath.

Today we have to decide whether we want to build Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s Pakistan or a disorganized, confused, and scared Pakistan!

Nature is giving us time and again opportunity to reform ourselves and build such a society by keeping the oath which will lead us on the path of legal, educational and practical system, otherwise nature does not give chance to anyone again and again. Indeed, Pakistan is a fortunate country, which God is giving us opportunities to recover again and again. But forever?
