Earthquake shocks East Coast, magnitude 5.8
Strong earthquake tremors were felt in the eastern coastal region of Taiwan, with a magnitude of 5.8 recorded.
According to a foreign news agency, Taiwanese authorities say that buildings in the capital city of Taipei shook due to the intensity of the earthquake that occurred on Friday.
They say that the depth of the earthquake that hit Hualien County on the east coast of Taiwan was recorded at 10 km, while there were no immediate reports of any damage.
It should be noted that since the 7.2-magnitude earthquake in Hualien last month, Taiwan has suffered about 1,400 aftershocks, as a result of which 17 people were killed.
