Manipur: Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and two injured in an attack by alleged extremists in the Indian state of Manipur.

According to a report by NDTV, alleged separatists attacked an Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) camp in Naransena village in Bishnopur district, 45 km from Manipur’s capital Amphal.

According to the report, the two security personnel killed in the attack belonged to CRPF’s 128th battalion, identified as Sub-Inspector N Sarkar and Head Constable Arup Saini, and the injured as Inspector Jadev Das and Constable Aftab Das. Is.

Militants belonging to the alleged separatist group Kuki came from the hills, located just two kilometers from the IRB, and came so close to the separatist camp that the camp was in their firing range, police sources said.

He said that the extremists used self-made pump-gun explosives that detonate motor rounds and hit targets.

Police sources said that this attack took place just 6 days before the completion of one year of the crisis that started in the state of Manipur. .

Militants fired indiscriminately from the hills and targeted the camp, the militants hurled bombs, one of which exploded outside the CRPF’s 128th battalion, a senior police officer told an Indian news agency.

The police said that a wide-scale operation is underway to find armed separatists in the area.

It may be recalled that between August and September 2023 in the Indian state of Manipur, there were bloody communal clashes between the Methi and Kokizo clans and there was a large loss of life.

The central region of Manipur state is dominated by the Meiti tribe, while the southern hills and other regions are dominated by the Kukizo tribe.
