Karachi; Mehsud tribes’ decision to boycott the funeral of people involved in street crime

Karachi: Mehsud tribes have decided to boycott the funeral of those involved in street crime.

A jirga of the Mehsud tribes was held on the issue of increasing robberies and drug dealing in the city, in which suggestions were made to take action against those involved in street crime of their community.

The photo and the video statement of the spokesperson of the Jirga of the Mehsud tribes held in Manghopir Sultanabad area went viral on social media. Not supported on any platform.

The proposals presented in the Jirga are being appreciated by the citizens. According to the video statement of Jirga spokesman Mufti Khalid, it was suggested that if a person from the Mehsud tribes is involved in robbery, he should not be taken to the police station or the court to rescue him.

Apart from this, it was also suggested that if any of our members were involved in robbery, his funeral should be boycotted and he should not be allowed to be buried in his own cemetery. In the Jirga, a proposal of social boycott of the families of those involved in robberies and drug trafficking also came up.

It has been informed that these proposals brought forward in the Jirga will be reviewed by a 12-member empowered committee of sub-branches of Mehsud tribes. In the light of the decision of the Jirga, the points will be brought forward in formal written form.
