Mushtaq Ahmed appointed spin bowling coach of Bangladesh

Karachi: Bangladesh has appointed former Pakistan leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed as its new spin bowling coach.

A statement issued by the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Tuesday said that Mushtaq Ahmed will start coaching the team for the T20 series against Zimbabwe at the end of April.

Mushtaq Ahmed will work with Bangladesh team till the end of ICCT Twenty World Cup scheduled in West Indies and USA in September this year.

53-year-old Mushtaq Ahmed, who has previously coached Pakistan, England and West Indies, Bangladesh has decided to take advantage of his services given the conditions of the World Cup.

Mushtaq Ahmed took 185 wickets in 52 Tests at an average of 32.97 while he also took 161 wickets for Pakistan in 144 ODIs. Mushtaq Ahmed was also part of the Pakistan World Cup winning team in 1992.

In a statement released by BCB, Mushtaq Ahmed said that it is an honor for me to be a part of the Bangladesh cricket team as the spin bowling coach, and he is very excited to work with the team.

“Bangladesh team can beat anyone because they have the capacity, resources and talent, I will try to instill confidence in them,” he said.
