Pakistan expects to receive 8 billion dollars from the World Bank

Islamabad: Pakistan expects to receive 8 billion dollars from the World Bank, negotiations have started in this regard.

Under the Country Partnership Strategy Policy Framework, Pakistan has started negotiations with the World Bank for a new 4-year program. Pakistan is expected to receive $8 billion from the World Bank through the Country Partnership Strategy Policy Framework, which will have a few major priority areas.

According to Finance Ministry officials, this CPS can cover from 2025 to 2029. In the negotiations so far, the policy framework and the actual term of the CPS have not been decided.

The CPS could not be finalized from fiscal year 2022 to 2026 as a lot of time was spent on elections and formation of a new government. Now that the newly elected government has come, it is negotiating with the international organization for a new CPS so that the CPS for a period of 4 to 5 years will be obtained in the next couple of months.

For 4 to 5 years, CPS will focus mostly on priority areas and discussions are ongoing to finalize the framework for major areas of funding for the next 5 years.
