Punjab Chief Minister’s directive not to use force against lawyers

Islamabad/Lahore: Federal Law Minister Senator Azam Nazir Tarar has contacted Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif over the phone regarding the situation that occurred after the clash between lawyers and police in Lahore.

According to the details, the Law Minister and the Chief Minister discussed the situation arising out of the lawyers’ protest and agreed to resolve the matter amicably while acknowledging the legitimate demands of the lawyers.

Both the leaders agreed that the conflict is not in favor of any party including the people, so the path of negotiation should be adopted to resolve the issues.

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz immediately instructed Chief Secretary and IG Police Punjab to avoid using force against lawyers.

The law minister demanded that the lawyers in police custody be released as he is not a terrorist or an accused. According to the sources, Law Minister Nazir Tarar was in constant contact with the Chief Minister Punjab in the situation of lawyers’ protest.
