Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin was formally sworn in for another six-year term amid heightened tensions with the West.

According to the report of the foreign news agency Reuters, Vladimir Putin was sworn in as the President of Russia for the next 6 years in a ceremony held in the Kremlin, while the ceremony was boycotted by the United States and its allies.

In the opening speech of the new term of the presidency, Putin said that he wants to bow down to the soldiers who have been fighting in Ukraine for more than two years and his election in March is proof that the country is united and on the right direction.

Speaking to foreign guests and diplomats at the Kremlin Hall, the Russian President said that the citizens of Russia have sealed the fate of the country and this is of great importance at a time when we are facing very difficult situations.

He said that I consider it a heroic defense of our common historical goals, our rights, values, freedom and national interests of Russia.

It should be noted that the 71-year-old Putin has the upper hand in the national political arena, where major opposition leaders are in prison or exile, and his main opponent, Alexei Navalny, died suddenly in custody in February this year.

Navalny’s widow, in a video message on the occasion of Putin’s swearing-in, asked her supporters to continue their fight against Putin because things have gotten worse in each of his terms and she fears what will happen to her rule.

Vladimir Putin is facing tension with the Western countries at the global level and in the Ukraine war, where other NATO countries, including the United States, are against him, Putin is accusing them of trying to destroy Russia under the pretext of Ukraine.

After being sworn in, Putin told Russian politicians that he was not averse to negotiations with the West on any issue, including nuclear weapons, and that it was now up to them to decide whether they wanted to tolerate Russia or stick to a policy of aggression. There are, our country is under the worst pressure for years, which they want to continue or follow the path of cooperation and peace.

It should be noted that Vladimir Putin has been the ruler of Russia as Prime Minister or President since 1999, and if he completes his 6-year term, he will overtake former Soviet leader Joseph Stalin as the longest-reigning Empress Catherine in the 18th century. will break the record of and try to be elected once again.

This year, he defeated two important anti-war candidates and won the presidential election with a record margin, while the opposition called it shameful.

The United States responded by saying that it did not consider Putin’s election to be free, transparent or impartial, so it did not participate in the swearing-in ceremony held on Tuesday. Britain, Canada and most of the EU countries also decided to boycott. France said it would send its ambassador.

On the other hand, Ukraine also objected to Putin’s election and called it an authoritarian government, questioning its legitimacy.
