Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has said that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is a true and sincere friend of Pakistan who made a telephone call on my election and the beginning of Ramadan.

These views were expressed by President Asif Ali Zardari in a special ceremony of awarding the Nishan Imtiaz military honor to the commander of Turkish Armed Forces.

The President gave the award in recognition of his services in strengthening defense ties between Pakistan and Turkey, after which he had a meeting with the Commander of the Turkish Army, which was also attended by Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir.

In the meeting, issues related to defense cooperation between the two brotherly countries were discussed, while the need for further expansion of bilateral relations in the mutual interests of Pakistan and Turkey was emphasized.

President Asif Ali Zardari said that Pakistan is proud of its relations with Turkey, Turkey has always supported Pakistan on fundamental issues.

The President of the State expressed his satisfaction over the bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey in various projects and emphasized the need to increase ties to bring the people closer.

Asif Ali Zardari said that cooperation with Turkey should be promoted in the fields of agriculture, education, art and culture. He said that Recep Tayyip Erdogan is a true and sincere friend of Pakistan, he made a telephone call on my election and the beginning of Ramadan and expressed his determination to expand Pakistan-Turkey relations in both calls.

The commander of the Turkish Armed Forces reiterated his desire to further improve defense cooperation with Pakistan and said that both countries can play a significant role in promoting regional peace and stability.

On this occasion, the President of the State congratulated the Commander of the Turkish Land Forces on receiving Nishan Imtiaz (Military) and expressed hope that the Commanders of the Turkish Army will play their role in strengthening the defense cooperation between the two countries.
