Sindh Government’s order to stop all illegal allowances in government universities

Karachi: The government of Sindh has issued orders to immediately stop the unauthorized and illegal allowances given to the employees of all the government universities of the province under various headings.

These orders have been issued by the controlling authority of the public universities of Sindh, the Chief Minister of Sindh, and in this regard, the directives have also been received from the Department of Universities and Boards to all the public universities on Thursday afternoon.

According to the vice-chancellor of a university in Sindh, the chief minister of Sindh has said that these illegal/irregular and unapproved allowances are causing the worst financial loss in the universities, so the vice-chancellors of the government universities have been asked. They have been asked to hold a special meeting of their own syndicate on this issue and decide on rational grounds in the presence of ground facts, while the Sindh Higher Education Commission has been asked in this regard to take action against them in the context of the orders of the Chief Minister of Sindh. The allowances which have been declared irregular or unapproved in the letter issued by the Department of Universities and Boards include allowances under 16 headings, including orderly allowance, leave encashment, Eid greeting, directorship/chairpersonship. , Computer Allowance, Deanship Allowance, Technical Allowance, Teaching Allowance, Health Professional Allowance, Basic Medical Studies Allowance, Telephone Attendant Allowance, Cook Allowance, Security Guard and Sanitation Allowance among others.

The letter further states that it is necessary for the Vice-Chancellors to take any future decision in this regard keeping in mind the financial situation of the concerned university as such allowances are causing a financial burden of billions of rupees on the universities. and are causing financial difficulties in universities.

It should be noted that this letter has been issued at a time when the employees of the University of Karachi have been on strike for several days. They gather in the university green and protest against the administration. On Thursday too, the leader of SPL and a political figure also participated in this protest.
