The Extinction of Literacy – ABC Express

One of the wonderful but dying traditions of our society is Kitab Bani or the study of books. A book, especially a good and quality book, is the best friend of man and humanity.

History is a witness that even in the past, the greatest nations made study, research and exploration their motto and even today all developed nations are on the road of development and leadership by working with study and book friendship.

At the school, college and university level, students often focus on the academic syllabus books and then social media and social media engage them in leisure time. Due to which the libraries are becoming deserted and the books are becoming dilapidated. We can never be enlightened with our literature, wisdom, consciousness, knowledge, achievements of early and medieval ages unless we study historical and rare books.

Reading books is a positive action or activity. Parents, teachers and scholars, social and political leaders should encourage the young generation to develop a love for reading books and widen the canvas of their wisdom and consciousness. In my personal opinion it is very important to read at least one book a week and then discuss the lessons learned from that book in lively discussions with colleagues.

Electronic media, print media, journalists and intellectuals should play their role in this regard and the young generation and educated people should be attracted towards reading books.

Hazrat Ali Hajuveri’s book “Kashf al-Mahjub” is a treasure of Sufism and wisdom. Wasif Ali Wasif’s books share good. A book like “Etiquette of Life” looks at all the morals of life. Today, instead of playing games like PubG, reading Hazrat Mujaddid Al-Thani’s book Ihya Uloom will bring about a revolution. Today, instead of negative political commentary, the reading of Tariq Ismail Sagar’s books is a source of knowledge about the global scenario and the espionage activities of enemy countries.

Our society is being targeted by agencies of hostile countries and negative tendencies, differences, religious and political factions and violent attitudes are being promoted. These tendencies and this agenda of the enemy can only be defeated by constructive activities and positive tendencies.

The owner of a big library here in Wah Kent said that a few months ago I used to sell a hundred spiritual digests in Wah Kent, now I am selling only one spiritual digest. This is the case with other books and magazines. This is a sign of our cognitive decline. The great library of Kent, the Darul-Muddiyya, which houses millions of rare books, is woefully short of readers and members, as are the libraries of all the great cities.

Revive the book-loving society. Promote book literacy, place quality and great books in your home. Ban unnecessary use of mobile phones and put standard non-curriculum books in the hands of the youth. Exchange gifts of books. The position holder must gift the book to the children. Programs should be aired on the benefits of book reading and instead of useless political pointless comments, introduction programs of high quality books should be telecast. All schools should be mandated to establish a library of at least 100 to 200 books. Writers and intellectuals should be encouraged at the state level to keep writing for the betterment of the coming generation.

Book fairs and exhibitions should be organized at central, provincial and district levels and book literacy should be promoted. The trend of book study will lead to the elimination of thousands of negative activities.
