The hearing on the request to raise the price of electricity for one month in view of the March fuel price adjustment will be held on April 26.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) says that a request has been submitted by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) to raise the price of electricity by Rs 2.94 paise per unit.

According to Nepra, the CPPA has asked for the increase in the context of the March fuel price adjustment.

CPPA says that 7 billion 756 million units of electricity were sold in March, 27.63% from water, 10.74% from local coal.

CPPA said that 9.91 percent of electricity was generated from domestic gas, 20.67 percent from imported LNG, while 25.79 percent was generated from nuclear fuel.

According to the sources, there is a possibility of an additional burden of 27 billion rupees on the electricity consumers after the approval of the application.
