April 18 is a history-making day for Pakistan cricket, Taseef Ahmed

Former Test cricketer Taseef Ahmed has said that April 18 is a historic day for Pakistan cricket, the memory of Javed Miandad’s six in Sharjah is still fresh today.

In a special conversation with Geo News, Taseef Ahmed said that even after 38 years, people ask me about that one run, if that one run had not been scored, Sharjah would not have hit a six on the last ball.

Taseef Ahmed said that I had Manzoor Elahi’s bat from which I got that memorable run, we were not winning the match from anywhere, Javed Miandad was getting a lot of reception in the dressing room.

He said that when he reached the wicket, Miandad said what are you going to do, I said I will run away, Javed Miandad said look, then I said now, what have you done, I thought that the ball went into the hands of the wicketkeeper even then. I will run for a run.

Taseef Ahmed said that the pressure was on everyone but I was not under pressure, played the fifth ball and ran for a run, the ball went to Azharuddin whose throw could not hit the wickets.

The former cricketer said that the world was afraid of Miandad and India was very much afraid, Javed Miandad showed it by hitting a six in Sharjah

He further said that even today there is a tree on the side of the Sharjah Stadium towards which Miandad was hit.
