PSL 2025; Start considering changes in playing conditions

In order to increase the fans’ cricket craze and attachment to the game, a change in the playing conditions of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was started.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had proposed to hold the 10th edition of PSL from April 7 to May 20 as the ICC Champions Trophy is to be hosted at Pakistan’s home ground next year.
Interesting suggestions came out in the discussion during the Governing Council meeting yesterday, one of which was to change the playing conditions.

One proposal was that at the time of the toss the team captains would select separate teams on two separate sheets and after the toss the teams would then select one of their provided line-ups to be considered as their final playing XI. , the aim of this move is to make it easier for the teams who lose the toss.

Another suggestion was to implement a power surge in the PSL, similar to Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL), in which the power play could be used in the first 2 overs, followed by any over after 11 overs. Time batsmen can use the remaining overs of the powerplay to quickly increase the score, resulting in just 2 fielders fielding outside the circle.

Reports have revealed that the PSL management is not in favor of bringing the Impact Player role of IPL or the X Factor role of BBL.
It should be noted that the PSL management and franchises will continue to explore more ideas to change the playing conditions and will come to a conclusion in the next few months.
