The federal government will buy 1.8 million metric tons of wheat, Prime Minister

Lahore: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif held a high-level emergency meeting while taking notice of the progress on the purchase of wheat and the difficulties faced by the farmers in getting the grain.

Federal Ministers Rana Tanveer Hussain, Attaullah Tarar and relevant senior officials participated in this meeting, the participants were informed in detail about the progress regarding the purchase of wheat.

The Prime Minister asked why the farmers are facing difficulties in getting the grain for purchasing wheat. He said that the farmers will be compensated for their hard work in time. By the grace of Allah, there has been a bumper crop of wheat this year.

Shahbaz Sharif said that he will not allow the hard work of farmers to fall prey to anyone’s negligence and will not accept any kind of compromise on their economic security.

The Prime Minister directed the officers to go and monitor the wheat purchase and said that the federal government is going to purchase 1.8 million metric tons of wheat under PASCO with the aim of providing full benefits to the farmers.

The Prime Minister has established the Ministry of National Food Security Committee to ensure the convenience of the farmers regarding the purchase of wheat and to address their concerns, which will take steps to address the concerns of the farmers in four days.
