Vasakhi and the farmer’s lament

The word Vasakhi is derived from Vasakh which comes after the indigenous month of Chet. The month of Chait is called the month of the beginning of spring when the flowers bloom and their fragrance fills the air. Vasakhi Tehura is celebrated in connection with the month of Vasakh, which is associated with the harvesting of wheat.

No matter how many crops a farmer grows, his love for wheat is eternal because a farmer thinks that if he has wheat in his house, then he can spend the whole year without worry. In connection with the festival of Vasakhi, an event called Ringli Vasakhi was organized by the Punjabi Institute of Culture, Language and Art in Lahore. In which traditional folk songs and drum and shehnai artistes of Sone Skisar Valley performed their art.

Ms. Benish Fatima Sahi, head of the institution, should be praised for keeping the ancient festival of Vasakhi alive by organizing a wonderful event in Lahore. Afzal Sahir of Punjabi Sangat kept the audience enthralled with his sahiran talk. On the other hand, this colorful ceremony of Sakhi was being held on the same day, farmers were mourning on the Mall Road of Lahore.

In their hands were golden sheaves of dry crops which they brought to show the townspeople that the government itself was reluctant to buy at the rates it fixed. According to reports, they were also prevented from reaching the House of Punjab Assembly where the representatives elected by their votes were present and most of them were farmers, but since the governments do not tolerate any kind of disruption in their governance. Not used to it, these farmers also became the victims of this intolerance who had reached Lahore hoping that their voice might reach the government, but it did not happen. However, the opposition heard this voice through a crack in the broken wall of power.

What do you know about the problems of the urban babu farmers, they go to the market and buy the products they like, but the farmers who are growing these products, they do not even receive the usher of their labor because the farmers of our country go to the markets. continues to be exploited and now the government has also become a party to this exploitation, perhaps these are the rules of modern trade. However, the government must investigate who were the people who imported wheat in such a large quantity and at high prices just a few months before the preparation of the wheat crop that the farmer of his country has been forced to protest.

The wheat crop is the annual income of the farmers and from this they collect their annual sustenance. There is a famous Punjabi saying, “Janhan de ghar dane inhan de kamle ve seyane” that if there is a year’s supply of wheat in the house, it is understood that the rest of life’s affairs will go on. Bread has been arranged.

So now the year will pass with satisfaction. Wheat harvest is a patient phase for the farmers as it takes six months from sowing to harvesting and during this time the farmer also has to go through all kinds of weather conditions with this crop as he has his Everything is mixed in the soil and sits waiting for the mercy of Allah, and in this merciless world today, if anyone trusts in Allah the most, it is the farmer who entrusts his savings to the soil. And makes the future programs conditional after the harvest.

There is an ocean of hope that builds up within him, waiting for him when the days of harvest will be over and he will be able to fulfill the desires set in his heart through the proceeds from the sale of that crop. It is expected to be fulfilled.

When the wheat crop is ready, the farmer prays to Allah to bear it with good health. On occasion, we don’t even need gold rain.

According to the news, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab has started harvesting of wheat by using the golden sickle on the golden crop of wheat, but the worries of the farmers are not reducing. They are not getting the fixed government price of the crop and they are not getting the Bardana. But the farmers are not being heard anywhere.
