Nepal’s new 100 rupees note released, India panicked

Nepal has issued a new currency note of 100 rupees last Friday, which has once again become a cause of strained diplomatic relations with neighboring India.

According to foreign media reports, Nepal’s new currency notes also feature disputed areas like Lipulekh, Lumpiyadhura and Kala Pani, which have been a source of conflict with India.

It should be noted that in 2020, Nepal issued an amended map of the country in which it declared the important strategic areas of Lipu Lekh, Lampiyadhura and Kalapani as its constitutional part.

Now Nepal has issued a new 100 rupee note after the approval of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dhal, which will be officially usable, the old map on the back side of the note has been replaced with a new map.

According to foreign media, India is expressing strong reservations and objections to the new currency notes issued by Nepal.

Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar while reacting to the Nepali initiative termed it as unilateral and said that this unilateral initiative of Nepal cannot change the reality between us or the ground reality, however, this initiative has seriously damaged the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
