Production Minister’s strict notice on green urea price hike
The Fertilizer Company has unilaterally increased the price by Rs 561 per sack
Islamabad: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer has taken strict notice of the unilateral increase in the price of green urea by the fertilizer company.
Rana Tanveer has said that the fertilizer company should withdraw the unilateral increase, the fertilizer company should provide a solid justification for the sudden increase in the price of green urea.
According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Industry and Production, the fertilizer company had unilaterally increased the price by 561 rupees per sack.
Rana Tanveer said that there has been no increase in gas prices for the fertilizer industry in recent times, the increase in the prices of green urea fertilizer without an increase in gas prices is unacceptable and unjustified, failure to provide concrete justification. But the Ministry will determine the prices under the relevant laws.
He further said that sudden unilateral increase adversely affects the farmers, unfair profit on urea fertilizer will not be allowed, disruption of supply of urea fertilizer is not acceptable, along with provinces to eliminate hoarding of fertilizer. Working together, developing mechanisms to check real-time stock availability of fertilizers, fertilizer companies will provide facilities to farmers to increase productivity.
