Reforms in government departments are not possible without punishment and punishment, Prime Minister

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that reforms are not possible without an effective system of punishment and punishment in government departments.

These views were expressed by the Prime Minister in a high-level meeting regarding the review of reforms in the power sector under his chairmanship.

In the third and final meeting held in Islamabad, the Prime Minister said that a comprehensive action plan should also be presented to provide electricity to the industrial sector at low rates, while he announced that every month a review will be conducted on the implementation of reforms in the electricity sector. The Prime Minister said that to increase industrial development and exports, he will ensure the supply of electricity to the industries at a low cost, while Shahbaz Sharif also directed to present a formula for distribution of fans with low electricity consumption to middle-income consumers.

In the meeting, major decisions were taken regarding electricity transmission system and distribution companies (DISCOs). The Prime Minister approved in principle the reforms and reorganization of the electricity transmission system, especially the National Transmission and Dispatch Company.

The Prime Minister announced the establishment of a committee to finalize the recommendations and ensure the implementation of reforms and restructuring and said that a cell has been established in the Prime Minister’s Office to ensure the implementation of reforms in the power sector. Shahbaz Sharif called for a report regarding the plan to replace high power consumption fans with low power consumption fans during his previous regime and a comprehensive plan to provide low power consumption fans to low income consumers. Also called.

The meeting was informed in detail about the problems of the National Transmission and Dispatch Company and its reforms, recommendations were also made regarding the situation of the distribution companies, their losses and their privatization and outsourcing.

The meeting was also briefed about tariff rationalization, electricity rates to be provided to industries and domestic consumers, while the participants were given different suggestions regarding using electricity instead of gas for other uses other than cooking. Action plans were presented.

Appreciating the briefing, the Prime Minister issued instructions to ensure the implementation of the approved reforms within a specified period.
